According to US News and World Report, the following health insurance plans were rated as the best in California when factoring in member satisfaction, prevention and treatment:
1) The top rated Medicare health plan in California was Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Southern California. Their combined score was 87.2 out of a possible 100 pts.
While the health insurance company only rated 3 out of 5 stars on the measure of 'Member Satisfaction', they received perfect scores for both prevention and treatment measures.

4) Aetna Health of California (81.0)
5) BlueShield of California (80.4)
6) Pacificare of California (80.1)
7) Carefirst Health Plan (74.1)

It is interesting of note that all of the plans rated in the US News and World Report research study are HMO plans. HMO Medicare plans are not for everybody. You may prefer the flexibility of a traditional Medicare supplement plan based on your individual health care needs.
